Neuropatías trigeminales tumorales: presentación de 7 casos

Las neuropatías del trigémino de origen tumoral suponen un bajo porcentaje de las neuropatías trigeminales, pero pueden tener muy mal pronóstico. Es importante descartar una neoplasia en los pacientes con adormecimiento en el territorio del trigémino. Presentamos 7 casos de neuropatías trigeminales secundarias a tumores; en 4 existían antecedentes de neoplasias sistémicas previas y en 3 la neuropatía fue el primer signo de la enfermedad tumoral. En tres ocasiones la lesión se localizó en mandíbula, una en base de cráneo, una en troncoencéfalo, una a nivel cerebral y en una no se encontró el nivel lesional. La evolución fue muy mala en 5 pacientes; sólo se recuperó un caso en el que tras la resección de un neurinoma del acústico desaparecieron los síntomas. Las lesiones que producen neuropatías trigeminales tumorales pueden localizarse a lo largo de todo el trayecto trigeminal y las neoplásicas tienen un pronóstico ominoso.Trigeminal neuropathy of neoplastic origin accounts for a small percentage of trigeminal neuropathies, though the prognosis may be very poor. It is important to discard neoplastic processes in patients with numbness of the trigeminal territory. We present 7 cases of trigeminal neuropathy secondary to tumors: in four cases there were antecedents of systemic neoplastic disease, while in the remaining three cases neuropathy was the first manifestation of the tumor. The lesion was located in the mandible in three cases, in the region of the skull base in one patient, and in the brainstem and brain in one case each. In one case the lesion level could not be identified. The course was very poor in 5 cases. Recovery was only recorded in one patient in whom the symptoms were seen to disappear after acoustic nerve neurinoma resection. The lesions underlying neoplastic trigeminal neuropathy can be located at any point along the trajectory of the trigeminal nerve, and their prognosis is very poor

Aplicación de las técnicas coloidales al procesamiento de cermets Acero/Ti(C,N) en agua

La ponencia presentada en: XI Congreso Nacional de Materiales Compuestos, celebrado los días 6, 7 y 8 de julio de 2015, en Móstoles (España).Las técnicas de procesamiento coloidal han demostrado en numerosas ocasiones su efectividad para la obtención materiales compuestos con elevado grado de homogeneidad estructural y reproducibilidad a bajo coste. A pesar de sus grandes virtudes, estas técnicas de procesamiento han recibido escasa atención en el procesamiento de materiales metálicos, debido principalmente a la tendencia a la oxidación de los metales en agua y a su elevada densidad, lo que dificulta la preparación de suspensiones estables. Sin embargo, en trabajos anteriores se ha reportado la obtención de materiales compuestos con matrices basadas en Fe reforzados con Ti(C,N), que presentaban características superiores a las de materiales de similar composición obtenidos mediante pulvimetalurgia convencional. Moldels for reproducing the damage scenario of the Lorca earthquake

A damage scenario modelling is developed and compared with the damage distribution observed after the 2011 Lorca earthquake. The strong ground motion models considered include five modern ground motion prediction equations (GMPEs) amply used worldwide. Capacity and fragility curves from the Risk-UE project are utilized to model building vulnerability and expected damage. Damage estimates resulting from different combinations of GMPE and capacity/fragility curves are compared with the actual damage scenario, establishing the combination that best explains the observed damage distribution. In addition, some recommendations are proposed, including correction factors in fragility curves in order to reproduce in a better way the observed damage in masonry and reinforce concrete buildings. The lessons learned would contribute to improve the simulation of expected damages due to future earthquakes in Lorca or other regions in Spain with similar characteristics regarding attenuation and vulnerability

Los problemas de comprensión del álgebra en estudiantes universitarios

Este artículo es resultado de investigaciones en torno a los problemas asociados a la comprensión del álgebra que presentan estudiantes universitarios en la construcción del conocimiento matemático, tomando en consideración los obstáculos cognitivos, la familia de dificultades asociadas al álgebra y errores procedimentales de los estudiantes universitarios en el álgebra. En el desarrollo de la ponencia se describirá a partir del análisis hermenéutico, algunos supuestos básicos del papel que juegan los sentimientos y emociones en las matemáticas y los procesos de matematización. Summary This article is the result of researches related to problems associated with the comprehension of algebra by university students in the construction of mathematical knowledge, taking into account cognitive obstacles, the family of difficulties associated with algebra and the procedural errors of the university students with this subject. The development of the paper will be described based on a hermeneutic analysis, some basic assumptions of the role that the feelings and emotions holds in mathematics, as well as the mathematization processes
